Words are too simple to express the inspiring presence from our community surrounding the Jeremiah Community hearing last week. You prayed, you showed up, you spoke life into the vision that is a home for our neighbors.

The Fredericksburg Planning Commission heard several hours of community testimony last Tuesday. Voices were overwhelmingly supportive of making the vision for Jeremiah Community a reality. The public hearing remains open while Micah, Virginia Supportive Housing and Mary Washington Healthcare resolve some technical issues. The discussion will resume August 28 at 6:30pm when the planning commission returns from their summer break in meeting schedule.

We will need the community to show up again, as there will be additional opportunity for the community to show up. Comments can be submitted in person on August 28 or in writing ahead of time to [email protected]. Resources remain available for City of Fredericksburg stakeholders to weigh in:

In the meantime…

Many members of our community have been giving or pledging financial support to Jeremiah Community for a long-time. Without this support, we could not have come as far as we have. As the re-zoning process comes into focus, it is of utmost importance that we lock in the gifts that will be essential to carry us through the next stages of development (I.e. preparing the site for the homes that will eventually house our neighbors).

Making your pledge known to us now will sustain the momentum behind this project, and help us bring our neighbors home sooner than later. We are still working to match Mary Jane O’Neill’s recent pledge of $250,000. Once we raise an additional $250,000 in new commitments, she will contribute another $250,000, bringing the total gift to an astounding $750,000!

NOW is the time to lay the foundation!  Let’s reveal the compassionate people we are, as we build the Kingdom of God in Fredericksburg as it is in heaven.

Goodwill Partnership

Our newest partnership with Rappahannock Goodwill allows us to maximize the impact of community donations, while still meeting the immediate needs of neighbors in need of basic clothing and household items. When you take clothing and small household items to Goodwill it allows Micah to SHOP FOR FREE. We now utilize Goodwill to stock our clothing room with items most needed by neighbors living on the street. And we issue vouchers to those who need a greater selection for work appropriate attire or items needed to make their house a home.
